Other Tips
- Be sure to take hygrometer readings regularly. The ideal range for storing your cigars is about 70%.
- Make sure you don't place your humidor in a place where there's lots of sunlight. Direct sunlight will have a impact on the humidity levels as well as temperature inside your humidor. 70/70 is the rule!
- If the humidity levels in your humidor are too high, you run the risk of growing fungus and mold on and inside your cigars. If any of your cigars affected by this, you should probably get rid of them.
- If the humidity gets too low, your cigars will dry out and you may not be able to salvage them. Most cigars can regain their moisture, however, once a cigar has dried out chances are the flavors have been affected. So be sure to monitor the humidity levels regularly!
- Make sure you use distilled water when charging your humidifier. In the short run using regular water will work but over time the minerals contained in that water will clog up your humidifier and you’ll have to purchase another one.
- Digital hygrometers are much more accurate than analog ones. If it's in your budget, it's definitely a good idea to invest in a digital hygrometer.
